Mariam received a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2021 and spent a few months in the Waterborne Disease Prevention Branch of the CDC as a microbiologist before stating a Fulbright Fellowship conducting a field study to quantify antimicrobial resistant pathogens in surface waters environments in urban India.
As an undergraduate, Mariam was a project manager for Engineers Without Borders and a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guinea and Mali, West Africa.
Mariam’s interests lie in infectious disease, environmental surveillance, and global health.
